  Mansfeld Lamp LSide.JPG - MANSFELD LAMP - Tinplate schelle or Mansfield-type oil wick lamp, 5 in. tall to top of bail, 2 1/4 in. base dia., includes 3 1/2 in. top hook and wick pick, double-cased lamp with internal font and hinged lid that fits snuggly inside the outer case carrier, font spout fits inside a half spout of the carrier, ca. 1860-1900, German made, unmarked, ex-Steve Lindberg collection [The German Mansfeld (cognate with English Mansfield) lamp is named for its use in the Mansfeld copper mining district. The district is situated in central Germany, east of the Harz Mountains and approximately 40 km west of the town of Halle. Used as early as the mid-1800s, their use likely spread to adjacent countries such as Poland and Austria.]
